Custom Action Figure - Playmates Dick Tracy

I have a lot of thoughts about the Playmates action figure line for the 1990 Dick Tracy feature film. I'm sure I'll have a larger post about the line in general at some point. Today I want to give some attention to my effort to correct what I see a mis-step in the line, or least a hole that can stand to be filled.
The version of Dick Tracy that Playmates released was wearing a shirt and vest. No suit jacket, no yellow coat. It's possible that if the line had continued we would have seen versions of the popular characters in other outfits, like this one.
The various Batman action figure lines have done this a lot, with various versions of Batman for different climates/environments/specific foes, etc. Mezco did something similar with their Mez-Its versions of Dick Tracy, making Tracy in a blue suit, blue vest and white shirt, and yellow coat.
I realize that my version doesn't have the 2-Way Wrist Radio visible, but I can argue that it's covered by the sleeves.
The torso and legs are from Shoulders. I could have tried to sand off the brass knuckles, but I think they work just as well as handcuffs. The stem that attaches the heads to the body are notoriously fragile, so I had to build on a neck peg and attach the head with a ball joint.
The arms are from Rodent, because I didn't want Tracy to be as broad-shouldered as Shoulders. I think Influence and Mumbles use the same arms as well.
Shortly after the Dick Tracy line, Playmates acquired the license for Star Trek: The Next Generation (and eventually the entire Star Trek franchise). I wonder if the Dick Tracy line would have been more successful if it was designed closer to the Star Trek style, rather than the style of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

More on that in my next Custom Action Figure post.
